Rock, Jacqueline, (Thompson) 84, formerly of Fenwick Road, Riverside, died peacefully on May 13, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Rock. She is survived by five step-sons and their spouses; James H. (Sharyn), Joseph Michael (Margaret), Robert E. (Madonna), all of East Providence, Stephen F. (Deborah) of Westport, MA and John P. (Patricia) of Cranston, nine grandchildren; Robert, Genevieve, Brenna, Patrick, Calley, Abigail, Sean, Kellie and Margaret and a sister; Sheila T. Sullivan of Houston, TX. She was the twin sister of the late John A. Thompson and sister of the late George R. Thompson Jr.

Born in Leominster, MA, a daughter of the late George R. and Rheta N. (Murphy) Thompson, she lived in Riverside most of her life.

Mrs. Rock was a business teacher and guidance counselor for the East Providence School Department for 33 years before retiring in 1984.

Jacqueline was a graduate of Bryant College Class of 1951. She then received her Master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling in 1965 from Bryant College.

Mrs. Rock was a member of the National Education Assoc., The Rhode Island Education Assoc., The East Providence Educational Assoc., The RI Guidance and Personnel Assoc. and the East Bay Retired Teachers Assoc. She was a former Eucharistic minister and lecturer at both St. Brendan Church, Riverside and St. Francis Church, Warwick.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday May 16, 2014 in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
