James J. Morse Jr.

Date of Passing:

March 20, 2026

James J. Morse Jr., 66, of Coventry and formerly of Riverside, passed away unexpectedly on March 20, 2026, at Kent County Hospital in Warwick. He leaves behind June Stimson.
Born in Providence, he was the son of James J. Morse of Berkley, Massachusetts and the late Helen (King) Morse. He formed many lasting friendships and memories.

A dedicated and hardworking man, James was employed as a salesman with ATS Construction Equipment, Inc. in Rehoboth, Massachusetts for the past 14 years. Prior to that, he devoted 31 years to the former J.J. Gregory Equipment Rental Company in Seekonk, Massachusetts. Throughout his career, he was respected not only for his knowledge and professionalism, but also for his willingness to share that knowledge, teaching heavy equipment safety classes to numerous industrial companies.

James was a proud graduate of East Providence High School, Class of 1977, and a veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country honorably from 1979 to 1983.

In his leisure time, James found joy on the golf course, where he appreciated both the game and the camaraderie it brought. He will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and the quiet kindness he extended to those around him.

Besides his father and June, he is survived by his daughter, Janna Morse of Riverside, and his two grandchildren. He also leaves behind his siblings: George J. Morse of North Scituate, Steven M. Morse of Los Angeles, California, Robert Morse of Warwick, and Deborah Serrales of Jamestown. He was the brother of the late Michael E. Morse.

James will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside. Calling hours will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service.
