James J. Pezzullo Jr.

Pezzullo, James J. Jr., 89, formerly of Maple Avenue, Barrington, passed away surrounded by his family on September 19, 2021. He was 2 days shy of his 90th birthday. He leaves his wife Rita (Bourque) Pezzullo and he was the husband of the late Joan (Wright) Pezzullo.

Born in Barrington, a son of the late James J. Pezzullo, Sr. and Carmella “Millie” (DiOrio) Pezzullo of Barrington, he lived in Barrington most of his life and Tiverton for the past thirty years.

James graduated from Peck School in 1949 and graduated from URI in 1953, attending on a caddy scholarship from RI Country Club, Barrington. He received a Master’s degree from RIC and also from Union College, Schenectady, NY.

Mr. Pezzullo was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War.

James was a school teacher at Case High School in Swansea, MA. He then taught at Barrington High School for most of his career where he was a Chairman of the Science Department.

James spent much of his time golfing, fishing, gardening and traveling. He belonged to Montaup Country Club for over 40 years and he loved a good cigar.

Besides his wife he is survived by two daughters, Lisa Rayner of Barrington and Suzanne and James MacKimm of Windham, NH; three grandchildren, Joan Rayner, Michael Rayner and Jessica MacKimm and a great granddaughter Ada Rayner. He leaves a brother, Steven P. Pezzullo of Susanville CA. and a sister Virginia Beauchaine. He was predeceased by his brother Richard A. Pezzullo.

His Funeral will be held on Saturday September 25, 2021 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington.

Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in James memory to Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Avenue, Barrington, RI 02806 would be deeply appreciated.
