James R. Bridges

Bridges, James, R., 97, of East Bay Manor, Wampanoag Trial, Riverside, died peacefully on November 16, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Velma (Kysel) Bridges.

Born in Johnstown, PA, a son of the late James and Margaret (O’Connor) Bridges, he lived in Riverside since 1971.

Mr. Bridges was a photo engraver for the former Providence Greuvere for 20 years before retiring in 1985.

James was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. He enjoyed listening to jazz music, running, riding his bike, New England beaches, chocolate and driving his car to the age of 95.

Mr. Bridges was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Anita Bridges of Henderson, NV, Deborah Clark of Hobe Sound, FL and Bonnie Bourgeois of Lakeland, FL; two grandchildren and one great grandson. He was the father of the late James F. Bridges and brother of the late Dorothy Snyder and Sr. Mary Teresina Bridges.

A private funeral service will be held in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA.
