McHugh, Joan C., 93, of Bay Road, Barrington, died peacefully on May 5, 2023 at the Crestwood Nursing Home, Warren, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter P. McHugh.
Born in Yonkers, New York a daughter of the late George and Consuelo (Doyle) Calcagnini, she lived in Barrington for 32 years.
Mrs. McHugh was an Office Manager for The Research Institute, Mt. Kisco, NY for 10 years before retiring in 1985.
Joan was a communicant of St. Luke Church and was a member of the parish’s Young at Heart Club. She was a member and former secretary for the Barrington Woman’s Club.
Joan was a volunteer at the Barrington Public Library. She enjoyed knitting with her little knitting circle and spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by her children, Connie A. Oswald and her husband Jim or Barrington, Thomas E. McHugh and his wife Lani of Warren, VT, Mary Pat Mishkin and her husband Barry of Waccabuc, NY and Terrence F. McHugh and his wife Denise of Port Townsend, WA; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late George Calcagnini Jr.
Services will be private at a later date. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. I met Joan about 2 years ago when she came into my class to learn how to knit and she became my friends! I regret not having met her earlier in our lives! I will miss not running to her house to help her correct a mistake in her knitting
