Chianese, Joan E. (Brandt), 88, of Cedar Avenue, Riverside, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024, at Miriam Hospital, Providence surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis A. Chianese.

Born in Hartford, CT on July 16th, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Rudolph and Alfhild (Ougensen) Brandt. Joan moved to Riverside at the age of 5 years old with her parents. She had remained a resident of Riverside, where her and her loving husband Louis, raised their Children and Grandchildren over the past decades.

Mrs. Chianese was an inspector for the former Trifari Jewelry Manufacturer, Riverside, for 33 years before retiring in 1994.

In her 88 years, not only did Joan enjoy raising and watching her children and grandchildren grow but she also enjoyed spending time with her friends, especially her dear friend Ellie. She found joy in attending the theater watching her niece, Maureen. Spending time with her husband at the casinos, taking cruises around the Caribbean with her family and friends, playing tennis in her younger years and watching Tiger Woods play golf.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Chianese (Joan Bowen) of Warwick and John Chianese of Riverside; a daughter, Linda Chianese of Bristol; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Joanne M. Markarian and sister of the late Herbert Brandt.

Her Funeral Service will be private.

Revelation 21:4 – And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

She was a wonderful person and we have many many happy memories of her when we were growing up spending time together with her and your beautiful family.     I worked with your sweet Mother for many years. She was so nice to everyone.
    I had the pleasure of running into her just before Christmas. I walked her to her car, hugged her & told her that I loved her. I am so happy to have had that moment.

I will miss all the good times and conversations we had going to the casino and her being in the audience to support me when ever I did a play. She will always have a special place in mine and Johns heart. Every summer when the beautiful rose bush she gave me blooms I’ll think of her and her beautiful smile and know she’s there.
