Drury, Joanne F., 77, of Village Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on November 15, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Raymond L. (Sean) Drury. They were married for 46 years.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Henry and Angela (Farley) Speitel, she lived in Riverside for 12 years.

Mrs. Drury was a First Grade Teacher for the Bristol-Warren School Department for many years before retiring in 2000.

Joanne received her B.A. from Mount St. Joseph College and also attended Seton Hall University, Providence College and the Catholic Teachers College. She was once nominated for the Catholic Teacher of the Year Award. She taught at Bishop McVinney School in Providence and St. Luke’s School in Barrington for many years and also taught in Connecticut.

Mrs. Drury was a former Sister of the Cross and Passion, where her sister name was Sister Teresita. She was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order.

She is survived by a daughter, Beth Anne Tanous and her husband Thomas of Barrington; three grandchildren, Samuel Drury Tanous, Gabriel Thomas Tanous and Lucas Sean Tanous and a brother, Kevin Speitel of New York. She was the grandmother of the late Connor ‘Patch’ Tanous.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday November 19, 2016 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in the Carmelite Monastery, 25 Watson Avenue, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
