Bettencourt, John, E., 81, of Sowams Road, died peacefully at home on May 5, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Zinni) Bettencourt.

Born in Dighton, MA, a son of the late Frank and Rose (Machado) Bettencourt, he lived in Barrington 59 years.

Mr. Bettencourt was the caretaker of Karl Jones ‘Llys yr Rhosyn Gardens’ Barrington for 30 years.

John was a communicant of Holy Angels Church. He was a member of the Rehoboth Holy Ghost Brotherhood of Charity. He was a devoted Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

Besides his wife of 58 years, he is survived by two daughters; Jo-Ann M. Coleman of Riverside and Janet Martone of Barrington, two sisters; Angelina Oldrid and Shirley Pearson, both of East Providence, four grandchildren; Tricia Motta, Ronald Coleman, Nicole Cram and Michael J. Martone and a great grandson; Brandon Motta who was the light of his life.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday May 8, 2013 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:30 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 11 am. Burial will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington. Calling hours are Wednesday morning 8:30-10 am.
