John R. Iasa, 85, of Lincoln Avenue, Barrington, died peacefully on April 12, 2025 surrounded by his loving family at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence. He was the beloved companion of Carol Rausch of Swansea, MA.

A lifelong resident of Barrington, he was a son of the late John and Elvira (Medici) Iasa. He was a graduate of Barrington High School Class of 1958 where he was the captain of the 1958 Rhode Island State golf championship team.

John was a communicant of Holy Angels Church. He was a member of the Wanumetonomy Golf & Country Club, where he scored a hole-in-one. He enjoyed refinishing furniture and working in his yard.

Mr. Iasa was a United Stated Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Stopfel of Middletown and niece, Kathleen Schafer and her husband Ted of Middletown and their two children Owen and Amy. He was the brother of the late Anthony Iasa and uncle of the late Michael Kean.

His funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday April 26, 2025 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington.

  2. So sorry to hear of John’s passing. Enjoyed our competitive golfing throughout our junior years. He and brother Anthony will always be remembered among the all time best in Barrington golf. Rest in peace John.
