John Ryding

Ryding, John L., 92, of Ferncrest Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on June 16, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Gloria L. (Perry) Ryding.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Cyril and Dorothy (Lupton) Ryding, he lived in Riverside for 54 years.

Mr. Ryding was a Manager in the MIS Department for the State Rhode Island Department of Employment Security for 25 years before retiring in 1988.

John was a graduate of St. Raphael Academy Class of 1944 and a graduate of Providence College Class of 1950. He was a communicant of St. Brendan Church and enjoyed spending time with his loving family.

Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his children, Deborah L. Castellano of Barrington, Mary-Catherine Kane of East Providence, Suzanne D. Ryding of East Providence, John L. Ryding Jr. of Ft. Myers, FL and Paula M. Archambault of Riverside; a brother, William Ryding of Warwick, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Cyril Ryding and Clifford Ryding. His Funeral will be held on Thursday June 28, 2018 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 9:00 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Attleboro, MA.

Calling hours are Wednesday 5-8 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in John’s memory to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904 would be deeply appreciated.

  2. I wish you my sincere sympathy, thoughts and prayers at this sad time. Mr. Ryding was a wonderful man. He was so kind. He would have my daughter Jenna over for play dates with Ashley, and was always so nice and thoughtful. God Bless you, and may you have eternal peace.
