John “Johnny” Senna Bento, 99, of East Providence, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026 at Waterview Villa Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, East Providence.

Born on May 3, 1926 in Sao Vincent’s, Cape Verde. Johnny was the son of the late Carlo Baptista Bento and Fausta ( Senna) Bento. He migrated to the United States in 1942 at the age of 16 years old where he lived on First Street in East Providence for over 80 years. He was an employee of Armbrust International in Providence for 50 years before his retirement. Always well-dressed and fashionable, Johnny had a great love of music, especially jazz. At home, Johnny’s passions were cooking, gardening, and above all else his family.

A devoted son, brother and uncle, he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known him. He is survived by three sisters, Hilda Silva, Eva Duarte and Marie Barros all from East Providence and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Marshall, William and Robert Bento, Anna B. Ramos,
Katherine Gonsalves, Marion Leitao and Elizabeth Brito.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside from 10:30 – 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in North Burial Ground Cemetery, Providence.

I’m so grateful I had the pleasure of knowing him while working at Aldersbridge. He will be deeply missed, and I hope he is resting now in the sweetest peace🕊️
