STOUT, JOHN W, 75, of Barrington passed away September 20, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Helen M Stout and the loving father of John R Stout (Gail) and Katherine Murphy.
He was the cherished Papa of Rebecca Pinto, Luke Stout, Mollie Young and Aurora Caravelli.

Born in Berks County, PA on October 3, 1942, he was the dear brother of Alice Ganster of TX.

John graduated from Dickenson College in PA then earned his master’s degree at Northeastern University and his doctorate in Public Administration from Nova University.

He had a long, varied career at Roger Williams University for 44 years as a professor, department head and dean. He taught as an adjunct professor at Northeastern University for 50 years and for 6 years at Mount Wachusett Community College.

Besides loving time with his family and friends, John and Helen enjoyed travel and live music.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington on Thursday September 27, 2018 at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday September 26, 2018 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers please perform an act of kindness in John’s memory.

  1. I knew John since we were teen agers living in Reading,Pa. John was one of the kindest young men I have ever known. We lost touch for many years and I was so very happy to reconnect a few years ago. I only learned of his passing today , January 8, 2019. I am so very sorry.

    I have had the pleasure of knowing John since 1980, as a dean colleague, and friend. Not only was John always supportive, but also provided direction to all of us who worked with him at RWU. I am so sorry to learn of his passing. Please accept my heartfelt condolences.

  4. I was so sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was a wonderful colleague in the old Open Division days at Roger Williams. I’ve missed seeing both Helen and John except occasionally in the years since my retirement twenty plus years ago. My condolences to Helen and family.
