Jon W. Anthony, 79, of Beach Point Drive, Riverside, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025 at Rhode Island Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen Joyce (Cooney) Anthony, with whom he shared 59 years of marriage, devotion, and cherished memories.
Born in Providence, Jon was a son of the late Arthur “Chubby” Anthony and Martha (Higginbotham) Anthony. He made his home in Riverside for 54 years, building a life grounded in love, hard work, and loyalty to those around him.
Mr. Anthony was a proud and dedicated member of Teamsters Local #251, where he served as a shop steward for 45 years before retiring in 2013. His strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to his fellow workers earned him the respect and admiration of many.
During the 1980s, Jon found great joy in serving as a coach for the Riverside Little League, where he influenced countless young athletes with his patience and encouragement. In his leisure time, he enjoyed golfing, boating, and most of all, spending time with his loving family.
Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by his daughter, Sharon M. Shea and her husband Frank of Riverside; two sons, Marc W. Anthony and his wife Olivia of North Providence, and Michael W. Anthony of Riverside; five grandchildren, Alicia, Erik, Tayla, Marc Jr. and Michael; and two great-grandchildren, Avaleigh and Paisley. He also leaves his brother, Richard Anthony of Riverside, along with several nieces and nephews. Jon’s presence, guidance, and love will be forever missed by all who knew him.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 24, 2025 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

Kathy, Sharon, Marc, Michael & the rest of the Anthony family, I am so sorry to hear of Jon’s passing. He & Steve were such great friends when we lived on Beach Point. I know they are having a ball together catching up in Heaven.
