Ford, Joseph F., Jr., 84, of Door Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on Saturday October 22, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of B. Marie Ford.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Joseph F. and Margaret A. (Duffy) Ford, he lived in Riverside for 62 years.

Mr. Ford was a police officer for the East Providence Police Department for 31 years before retiring as a Detective in 1987. He was a United States Navy veteran serving during WWII.

Joseph was a communicant of St. Brendan Church. He was a member of the Riverside American Legion Post # 10 and the East Providence Fraternal Order of Police. He was devoted Boston Red Sox fan.

Besides his wife of 62 years, he is survived by eight children; Joseph M. Ford of Holden, MA, Stephen P. Ford of Iquitos, Peru, Joanne M. Wallace of Seekonk, MA, Kathleen A. Johnson of Riverside, Kevin J. Ford of Warren, Coleen E. Overly of Fiskdale, MA, Mary E. Mega of Exeter and Richard A. Ford of Barrington, two sisters; M. Rita Ford of Rumford and Irene E. Carrigan of Rumford, fourteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Raymond Ford and Margaret C. Burkard.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday October 26, 2011 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
