Kenneth T. Smith Sr., 89, of Knowlton Street, Riverside, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2026, at the HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Providence, surrounded by care and compassion. He was the beloved husband of the late Jean D. (Frank) Smith, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion.

Born in East Providence, Kenneth was the son of the late Clifford A. and Floretta (Boyd) Smith and remained a proud lifelong resident of the community he dearly loved. His strong work ethic and sense of responsibility were evident throughout his career, including 14 years of dedicated service as a supervisor for the City of East Providence before his retirement in 1994.

Kenneth was a proud Mason and a longtime member of Riverside St. Andrews Lodge No. 39, where he formed lasting friendships and lived by the values of service, integrity, and brotherhood.

Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Dolores Baker of Riverside; his sons, William K. Smith and his wife Kim, Scott A. Smith and his wife Michaela, and Todd R. Smith and his wife Sandy, all of Riverside; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a daughter-in-law, Brenda Lee (Degrenier) Smith. He was the father of the late Kenneth T. Smith Jr.; a brother of the late Clifford Smith, Frederick Smith, Edward Smith, Joan Smith, Elsie Redman, Floretta Duclos and father-in-law of the late Paul S. Baker.

Kenneth will be remembered for his quiet strength and steady guidance. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched.

His funeral and burial will be private.
