Luis, Laurie A., 57, of Narragansett Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on February 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Armando G. Luis.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Wilmar Harvey and Sheila A. Whittaker, she was a lifelong resident of Riverside.

Mrs. Luis was a Senior Mortgage Closer for Citizens Bank for the past 10 years.

Laurie was graduate of East Providence High School Class of 1982. She was a communicant and C.C.D. Teacher at St. Brendan Church. She was also a Girl Scout Leader for the Riverside Girls Scouts. She enjoyed spending time with her loving grandchildren.

Besides her husband of 38 years, she is survived by a daughter, Jessica Gomes and her husband Ryan of Riverside; two sons, Brian Luis and his wife Samantha of Rehoboth, MA and Nicholas Luis his husband Jason St. Angelo of East Providence; a sister, Lisa Rotondo and her husband Ronnie of Warwick and eight grandchildren.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday February 15, 2022 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Calling hours are Monday February 14, 2022 from 4-8 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Laurie’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 3801 would be deeply appreciated.

  1. I am deeply sorry for your loss and pain in losing such a BEAUTIFUL Soul. I just found out Tuesday that you had passed Laurie. I am so sorry I missed your service. I never would have had I known. You were an Angel of a human being. Forgiveness came easy to you and I am grateful that you showed me how to do so. You were the strongest woman I knew so I hope you have the strength to guide from Heaven. Armando and Young Adults you raised will need you to guide them through this sudden loss.   2. I am so sorry for your loss. Laurie was a light at Citizens when we worked together. I am sorry I did not post this sooner, I just found out today. I remember working late and Laurie was always one of the last to leave. She loved to talk and was easy to talk to. She will be missed and remembered. My prayers and thoughts are with you.

  4. Laurie was an extremely bright light during her time at Bank of America after the Countrywide merger. We were in different departments but became friends as I always noticed how much her team was (or wasn’t) having, so we struck up conversation and hit it off. Laurie and her great friend Chris Dawley always made us smile.. We shared Twizzler’s and other candy often. Rest easy, Laurie. Deepest condolences to the family.
