Lawrence T. Beirne

Lawrence T. Beirne, 92, of Fountain Avenue, Barrington, died peacefully on June 9, 2025 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Louise M. (Pelissier) Beirne.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Patrick J. and Mabel (Monty) Beirne, he lived in Barrington for 65 years.
Mr. Beirne was a Purchasing Agent for the former Fleet Bank for many years. After retirement, he worked part-time at St. Luke School.
Lawrence was a communicant of St. Luke Church and a former member of the Parish Council. He was a volunteer for the Barrington Tap-In Program, Button Hole Golf Course and the Barrington Boosters. He also spent many years as a member of Barrington Democratic Club. He was very involved in all of the sports and activities his children took part in especially Barrington Youth Hockey and Barrington Little League.
A sports enthusiast, he was a devoted New England sports fan and Notre Dame Football lover. He also enjoyed tennis, golfing and backyard bocce.
Larry was a United States Marine Corps Veteran serving during the Korean Conflict where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart Award.
He is survived by his children, Michele P. Cross and her husband Russell of Barrington, Claudia L. Pawlowski and her husband Marc of Portsmouth and Matthew E. Beirne and his husband Sean Fitzgibbons of Lake Balboa, CA; four grandchildren, Nikki, Patrick, Rachel and Sydney and two brothers, Rev. Robert M. Beirne of Providence and Rev. Gerald E. Beirne of Narragansett. He was the father of the late David L. Beirne and Michael J. Beirne.
His Funeral will be held on Monday June 16, 2025 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m.
Calling hours are Sunday 4-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Lawrence’s memory to St. Luke’s School, 10 Waldron Avenue, Barrington, RI, 02806 would be deeply appreciated.

Larry’s life story certainly enjoyed the well deserved reputation of being a devoted spouse as well as a proud and readily supportive parent. Unfortunately,I will not be able to be with you on the occasion of Larry’s funeral mass, but his presence with the Risen Lord will be remembered in
my prayer on that occasion.
