Leonard A. Carlson, 87, of Providence Street, Rehoboth, MA, passed away peacefully at home on November 23, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Beverly A. (Booth) Carlson, with whom he shared many cherished years.
Born in Providence, Leonard was a son of the late Allan and Hazel Carlson. He made his home in Rehoboth since 1962, where he built a life rooted in hard work, community, and devotion to family.
Mr. Carlson proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his service, he dedicated 32 years to the United States Postal Service as a postman, retiring in 1992. His friendly presence and dependable nature earned the respect and affection of those along his routes and beyond.
Leonard was a longtime and proud member of the Riverside Sportsman Club, the East Providence Corona Club, the Riverside American Legion Post #10, the Seekonk American Legion, and the Rehoboth American Legion. His commitment to these organizations reflected his deep appreciation for camaraderie, service, and community.
A man of many talents, Leonard enjoyed bowling and took great pride in being a handyman. Whether it was fixing something around the house or lending a helping hand to others, he was always ready to put his skills to good use.
Leonard leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory: his loving daughter and caretaker Wendy Babbitt of Seekonk, MA; two grandchildren, Nicholas Babbitt and Madison Trombley; and his great-grandson, Ashton Babbitt. He is also survived by two sisters, Peggy Rochette and Joan Gregory, both of Riverside; a brother, Norman Carlson of Riverside; his son, Michael Sills of Florida; two daughters, Debroah Husnander of Arizona and Vickie Saunders of Pawtucket; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He also leaves behind a late daughter Kathleen Mason and he was the brother of the late Joseph Carlson, Janice Derrick, and Gussie Tetreault. Their memories, along with Leonard’s enduring spirit, remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
His funeral will be private.
