Amberg, Lorraine, H., 89, formerly of Nayatt Road, died peacefully at Orchard View Manor Nursing Home on September 15, 2015. She was the beloved wife of William J. Amberg.

Born in Newark, NJ, a daughter of the late William and Mae C. (Davis) Hoskins, she lived in Barrington for 50 years. She was a graduate of the College of New Rochelle Class of 1948, where she received the Ursula Alurus Citation.

Mrs. Amberg was a substitute teacher in the Barrington School system for 30 years before retiring in 2006.

Lorraine was a communicant and lecture at St. Luke Church. She was a member of the parish’s St. Vincent de Paul Society, Young at Heart Club, Woman’s Guild and a C.C.D. teacher. She also was a member of the Barrington Women’s Club and a volunteer at the Barrington Tap-In.

Besides her husband of 65 years, she is survived by her children, Marylou Walther of North Hampton, MA, William J. Amberg Jr. of Sparta, NJ, Barbara Paulhus of Winter Park, FL, Joan Scotto of Long Beach, NY and Lisa Porter of Middletown, Delaware; a brother-in-law, William O’Hara of Toms River, NJ and nine grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Joan Hoskins O’Hara.

Her funeral will be held on Monday September 21, 2015 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
