Louise M. Costa

Date of Passing:

December 16, 2025

Louise M. (Couto) Costa, 90, of Ferncrest Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on December 16, 2025, at the Cedar Crest Nursing Center in Cranston. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward A. Costa, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories.

Born in Providence, Louise was the daughter of the late Manuel and Marie E. (Souza) Couto. She made her home in Riverside for over 60 years, where she was deeply rooted in the community and known for her warm spirit, kindness, and gentle faith.

A devoted communicant of St. Brendan Church, Louise was also a longtime member of the St. Brendan Choir, finding great joy and comfort in music and worship. She was an active member of the East Providence Community Center, where she enjoyed the fellowship of friends. One of the proud and memorable moments of her life was meeting Pope John Paul II, an experience she treasured deeply.

Louise found her greatest happiness in the simple joys of life—spending time with friends, cooking and baking for those she loved, and sharing special moments with her beloved goddaughter. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and love, and her nurturing presence will be dearly missed.

She is survived by her loving son, Edward A. Costa Jr. of Riverside, and her devoted daughter, Darlene M. Costa of Cranston; her cherished granddaughters, Alexandra and her husband Patrick Beneviades, and Arielle Costa; and her adored great-granddaughter, Natalie Beneviades, who brought her immense joy.

Louise will be remembered for her faith, her generosity of heart, and the love she so freely gave to her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in all who were blessed to know her.

Her Funeral will be held on Monday December 22, 2025 from the W, RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
