Schroder, Mabel, L., ‘Mae’, 82, of Middle Highway, died peacefully at home on April 7, 2015 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Rumford, a daughter of the late Andrew and Emily (Jacobsen) Schroder, she lived in Barrington for 62 years.

Miss Schroder worked hard as a co-owner in her family business at the original Schroder’s Delicatessen for 40 years before retiring. She was a member of the Barrington Baptist Church for 52 years and volunteered in Christian Education and in hospitality for many fellowship events. Hospitality was one of her many gifts. She was an accomplished cook and always set her table for family, friends and even strangers for many wonderful meals at ‘Mable’s table’, where everyone felt like family. She delivered meals to those who could not come to her house. Mabel, ‘Aunt Mae’, was loved dearly and is already deeply missed.

Mae was not only a capable culinary artists, she was also a talented visual artist and member of the Providence Water Color Society.

She is survived by two sisters, Esther Corey of Missouri and Elenore Fiske of Barrington; a brother, Andrew Schroder of Little Compton; 14 nieces and nephews; 33 grand nieces and nephews and 3 great grand nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Alan Schroder.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service in the Barrington Baptist Church, 25 Old County Road, Barrington on Sunday May 17, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Mabel’s memory to the Faith & Hope Baptist Church, 93 Stanwood Street, Providence, RI, 02907 would be deeply appreciated. Arrangements are by the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, Riverside.
