Davidson, Malcolm, B., 74, of Bullock Avenue, Barrington, RI, died on Sunday, July 11, 2010, at Rhode Island Hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was the husband of Judith (Gagnon) Davidson, and the father of Wakefield resident Anne Davidson Babineau.

Born in 1935 in Pomona, CA, he grew up in San Luis Obispo, CA. He was the son of the late Harold P. Davidson and Rosalie (Cleek) Davidson. Mr. Davidson was a 1953 graduate of San Luis Obispo High School, and a 1957 graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH, where he majored in history. He served in the Marine Corps from 1958-1962, both on active duty and in the reserves, and worked in primary metals sales for most of his career. He was a past member of the Barrington and Tiverton Yacht Clubs and the Warren-Barrington Rotary Club, and served as the Rotary president.

Mr. Davidson enjoyed and excelled at tennis and golf, and delighted in learning to navigate the waters of Narragansett Bay, Block Island Sound and Buzzards Bay.

He and his wife had been married for 52 years. They enjoyed traveling and good food, and were longtime members of a gourmet dinner club in Barrington.

Besides his wife and daughter, he leaves three sons: Bruce Davidson of Maine, Andrew Davidson of Pomona, CA, and Scott Davidson and his wife, Alexandra, of Munich, Germany; and a daughter, Anne Davidson Babineau, and her husband, John, of Wakefield. He was the grandfather of Allison and Nathaniel Babineau. He also leaves a brother, Douglass Davidson, and his wife, Carole, of Winchester, MA.

His funeral and burial will be private. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions to Malcolm’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd., Suite 3004, Warwick, RI, 02886 would be deeply appreciated. Arrangements are by the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, Riverside.
