Maria A. Buzzi

Buzzi, Maria A. (Santos), 68, of Allison Court, Riverside, was lifted up on angels’ wings to eternal peace on December 5, 2021 after a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of James D. Buzzi.
Born in Portugal, a daughter of the late Jose Gomes Dos Santos and Adozinda (Nunes) Santos, she lived in Riverside for 32 years.
Maria was a graduate of CCRI Class of 1986.
Mrs. Buzzi was an LPN for the former Pawtucket Memorial Hospital and RI Group Health for 13 years before retiring in 2000.
Maria was a member of the Bristol Emblem Club. She enjoyed gardening, entertaining, traveling and spending time with her loving family.
She is survived by a large and loving family, her husband James of thirty years; two daughters, Angela A. Carvalho (grandson Jaden Haynes) of East Providence and Melissa Buzzi of Riverside; a son, Eric Buzzi (Alyx) of East Providence; two sisters, Adeline (David) Higgins of Cranston, Elsie Chmielewski of Warwick; a brother, Fred Santos of Florida; five sister-in-law’s, Marie Carriero, Karen (Richard) McLaughlin, Kathy (Russell) Woodward, Debra (David) Wieners, Donna (Randy) Lee; two brother-in-law’s, Jon (Emilie) Buzzi, Andrew (Dick) Buzzi and the late Mary Jo Osgood as well as many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Her Funeral will be held on Thursday December 9, 2021 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. A private burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Calling hours are Wednesday 4-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Maria’s memory to the Providence Journal Holiday Fund, c/o Rhode Island Foundation, One Union Station, Providence, RI 02903 would be deeply appreciated.

I am shocked to see the passing of your Mom. I remember she always had to come back to the classroom because you were always forgetting something. She made such an awesome yard, she was so proud of it, as she was of her children as well. I am so sad that we lost touch over the years. She was a great person. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Maria’s sudden passing whom will be greaty missed. We will alway cherish the vibrance and love she brought to the Allison Court in uniting each neighbor together in planning the Allison Court Block Party her devotion, love and genuine pride for her neighborhood and neighbors is how I will remember her the most, I am, we are all proud and privileged to have of known her, she left a mark on our neighborhood and all whose lives she touched she will be greatly missed but never forgotten. Jim you and the family are in our hearts and prayers.

We were saddened to learn of Maria’s illness and passing, but comforted that she is now at peace. Our sincere condolences to Jim, Angie, Mellisa, Eric and other family members who will have loving memories and miss her dearly. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.

Jim, Angela, Eric, Melissa, Jaden, and all of Maria’s family; I’m so deeply saddened about your sudden loss. I’ve had the opportunity to spend many visits/birthday parties at Maria’s home; and admired her witty humor, her love for Jim, Angela, Eric, Melissa, Jaden, her whole family, and her (little) pig. Though I truly believe she will live on in all of you, and the memories you all shared with her, will forever be held close in your hearts; the loss is still unfathomable.
