Campbell, Mario W., 80, of Country Side Lane, Riverside, died peacefully on March 20, 2024 at the Orchard View Manor surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia M. (Pina) Campbell.

Born on August 16, 1943 in Panama, Panama City, a son of the late Morris Campbell and Miriam Blair.

Mario migrated to the United States in 1962 at the age of 19 years old. He resided In Boston, Massachusetts until 1975 before moving to East Providence, Rhode Island.

Mario had worked as a sales associate for telecommunication and the retailing industry for many years before retiring from Harris Nursing Home, East Providence in 1999 as a custodian.

He enjoyed music especially Jazz, playing dominoes and watching soccer. He was an avid Boston sports fan. Most of all, he enjoyed hosting 4th of July and Thanksgiving celebrations for his family and friends. But most of all he loved spending time with his youngest grandsons Chris and Cade.

Besides his wife Cynthia, of 48 years, he is survived by his three sons, Derrick Campbell and his wife Stephanie of Lincoln, Mario Campbell and Eduardo Campbell, a daughter, Barbara Schand, three brothers, Emilio, Morris and Ivan Campbell, a sister Beatrice Campbell, all of Mattapan, MA, four sisters-in-laws, Erla Franklin of Mattapan, MA, Donna Corriea, of East Providence, Sheila Brown of Fall River, MA and Nancy Rodgers of Cupertino, CA, a brother-in-law Michael Pina and his wife Angela, of Goldsboro, NC, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. He was the brother of the late Victor Franklin, Clifford Franklin, Ronnie Blair, and Delores Johnson.

His funeral will be held on Monday, March 25, 2024 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 N Carpenter Street, East Providence at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

Calling hours Sunday 4-7p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions in Mario’s memory to American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 2216-7023 would be deeply appreciated.

  16. I was deeply saddened to learn of Mario’s passing. He was a kindhearted and sweet man who brightened the lives of those around him.

    I will fondly remember the stories Mario shared with me at family gatherings about his journey from Panama to build a life in the United States. He had such an adventurous spirit and zest for life. Mario’s tales of adapting to a new country, culture and way of life were always engaging and insightful. You could feel the appreciation he had for the opportunities America provided him.

    Mario’s warm smile and positive attitude will be dearly missed. He left a lasting impression on all who knew him. During this difficult time, please accept our heartfelt condolences. Mario led a very full life and made wonderful memories with his loved ones. May those cherished memories bring you comfort.
