Lowensohn, Martha J. (Mitchell), 99, of Roseate Court, Bradenton, Florida, died peacefully on June 18, 2023 at home. She was the beloved wife of Howard S. Lowensohn.
Born in Mansfield, MA, a daughter of the late Andrew and Elsie (Norwood) Mitchell, she lived in Riverside for 29 years and Bradenton, Florida for 25 years.
Mrs. Lowensohn was a kindergarten teacher for the East Providence School Department at Oldham School before retiring in 1953.
Martha was a graduate of Rhode Island College of Education Class of 1946.
She is survived by a son, Thomas A. Lowensohn of Fort Collins, Colorado and two grandchildren.
Her Funeral Service and Burial will be held on a date and time to be announced.
Our deepest condolences on the loss of Martha. My mom Barbara Burdick Hastings has been friends with Martha since childhood. I recently found a group picture that my mom was in. The group of girls were all dressed the same with hats and capes. When asked she remembered that she was on the ‘Drill team’ and she thought that they had won a trophy for a competition. She then also point out her friend Martha Mitchell!! I have always be so happy that Martha had stayed in touch with Barbara for all these years and my mom always let me know that Martha had called and recounted their little chat. Thank you for letting Barbara know of her passing, she will obviously miss Martha and the little chats from an old friend.
