Acciardo, Mary, A., (Giocastro), 86, formerly of Rogers Avenue, died peacefully on August 27, 2014 surrounded by her loving family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. She was the wife of the late Peter A. Acciardo.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Sabastino and Grace (Musco) Giocastro, she was a long time resident of Barrington.

Mrs. Acciardo was a communicant of Holy Angels Church and was a member of the Italian Heritage Assocation. She enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles listening to music. A pet enthusiast, she was devoted to her late dog ‘Samantha.’

Mary was a graduate of Bryant College Class of 1946 and was active in its sorority association.

She is survived by a son, Peter D. Acciardo and his wife Lorenzina ‘Lori’ of Barrington; two grandsons, David P. Acciardo and his wife Janine of Boston, MA and Stephen F. Acciardo and his fianc Karissa of East Providence and three sisters, Carmella Giocastro of Providence, Josephine ‘Chippi’ Nelton of TN and Gracie Abbamatteo of Cranston. She was the sister of the late Connie Altomari and Joseph Giocastro.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday August 30, 2014 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 10:15 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.
