Bower, Mary E. (Swain), 94, of Tockwotton on the Waterfront, Waterfront Drive, East Providence, died unexpectedly on December 30, 2019. She was the beloved wife of the late Warren C. Bower.

Born in Exeter, NH, a daughter of the late Howard E. and Bessie (Connor) Swain, she lived in East Providence for the past 5 years, previously residing in Norfolk, CT.

Mrs. Bower was a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Connecticut for over 20 years before retiring in 1987.

Mary enjoyed reading, cooking, needlepointing, genealogy and crewel embroidering.

She is survived by a daughter, Martha Bower of Saunderstown, RI; two sons, David Bower of Vernon, CT and Lewis Bower of East Hartford, CT; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Warren C. Bower Jr. and sister of the late Howard E. Swain Jr.

A Memorial service will be held on a date and time to be announced.
