Santos, Mary E., “Beth,” (Clare), 61, of Cypress Street, Riverside, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday August 18, 2020. She was the beloved wife of Steven J. Santos.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late David E. and Kathleen (McNamara) Clare, she was a lifelong resident of Riverside.

Beth was a graduate of East Providence High School Class of 1976. A devoted Boston Red Sox fan she also enjoyed bowling and spending time with her loving family.

Besides her husband of 42 years, she is survived by a son, Steven J. Santos Sr. and his wife Heather of East Providence; a daughter, Kelly Carmone and her fiancé Dennis Silveira of Barrington; four brothers, Michael Clare, David Clare, Terrance Clare and James Clare; four sisters, Patricia Barth, Anne Annese, Kathleen Clare and Suzane Laverdiere; four grandchildren, Steven J. Santos Jr., Matthew Carmone, Madison Whittaker and Joseph Carmone and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday August 21, 2020 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 10:30 a.m. Calling hours are Thursday 4-8 p.m. Due to state restrictions only 15 visitors at a time will be allowed in the funeral home during calling hours.

Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Beth’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Suite 3004, Warwick, RI, 02886 would be deeply appreciated.

  6. My sincere condolences to the Clare and Santos families. I know that there is nothing I can or write to rid you all of the grief I know you are experiencing. However, I hope you can find some comfort in knowing Beth is at peace and no longer in pain and suffering. While she will not be here in her physical form anymore, she will always be with you in spirit and through the wonderful treasured memories I am sure she has left you all with. My cousin Lori Ann Gibb has lost a very special cousin.
