Maureen E. Miller

Date of Passing:

June 3, 2024

Maureen E. (Richard) Miller, 59, of West Greenwich, RI, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 3, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Steven A. Miller, and the cherished mother of Brenna E. Miller (partner Benjamin Anthony). Maureen was the daughter of the late Eugene and Dolores (Sheridan) Richard of Portsmouth, RI. Born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Eugene and Dolores Sheridan Richard, Maureen is also survived by her extended family: brother Jeffrey Richard (Lillian), sister Dawn Davies, brother Terence Richard (Barbara), sister Rosemary Richard, and Maureen’s twin, Colleen McCabe (Robert).

Maureen was equally beloved by her in laws – mother-in-law Betty Miller and late husband Thomas (Jack), Thomas Miller (Susan), Dave Miller (Wendy Waskin), and Tracey (Miller) Archambault (Bob).

Her nieces and nephews include Felicia (Richard) and Michael Smith, Anthony Richard, Diana Richard, Richard, Margaret and Eleanor Davies, Samantha and Jake Richard, and Robert and Meaghan McCabe, as well as Eric Miller and his wife Erin, Bethany (Miller) McCann and her husband Bo, Katie Miller and her husband Troy Perry, Corey Miller and his wife Stephanie, Aaron Miller and his wife Jennifer, Lee Miller, Bobby Archambault, Kaila (Archambault) Pacheco and her husband Enio, Cody Archambault and his partner Gabby Kabitte, Jesse Archambault, and Jarrett Archambault, and her great nieces and nephews: Aven Smith, Jordan and Sophia Miller, Olive and Simon McCann, Logan and Cooper Perry, Aurora and Eloise Miller, James, Andrew and Ethan Miller, Sebastian, Gunther, Ariel and Liam Archambault and Carter Pacheco.

Maureen, as her mother used to say, never met a stranger. She was whip-smart, and had the rare gift of connecting people together, even those who might not be thought of as a pairing. Her memory for the details of the lives of people she knew was voluminous. She had the gift of making lifelong friends. She was also a donor of her time, and enjoyed particularly when she could mix golf with philanthropic work.

Maureen had a passion for anything Clemson, even though the color orange was not her favorite. She could be counted on to plan a lunch group whenever she could. Her greatest joy in life, aside from being a wife and mother, was to spend time with friends and family and people she cared about.

Maureen was a graduate of Portsmouth High School, Villanova University and received her master’s degree at Bryant University. Her work life often focused on developing donor relations, recently at Brown University and Salve Regina University.

Maureen’s funeral will be held Monday June 10, 2024 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside, RI at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday, June 9, 2024, 4 – 7 p.m.

  1. It has been one month since you were called home today and the pain of missing you only intensifies. How I wish I had a chance to say one more time to hug you and to tell you how much you were loved here on Earth. More importantly, how much you positively impacted the lives of those around you who had the pleasure to call you “friend.”

I take peace in knowing you no longer have to be brave or strong through all the struggles in life. They say God takes the good ones early. So, if that was his plan all along, then he knew that heaven gained an angel with you.

Until we meet again, keep that light on above us with Mom and Dad.
Thank you for giving me the privilege and opportunity to be your identical twin.

  2. I am so very sorry for your loss, and my heart goes out to Maureen’s family. She was the kindest, warmest, and most fun-loving person I knew. I am absolutely devastated. Maureen and I worked together at Narragansett Electric more than 30 years ago and have remained friends ever since. We have stayed in touch and have been calling and texting each other regularly.

Over the last two weeks, I’d been texting Maureen, and she was not responding. I decided to call her and when I did, I learned that her phone had been disconnected. I decided to look in the obituaries last night and discovered she had passed. I was beside myself. I’m so saddened that I didn’t have one last phone call with her, get to hold her hand, or attend the services.

I will miss you dearly Maureen. Rest in peace my wonderful friend. Love, Dianne

  3. Maureen was and is a sweet gentle soul. She would always put another before herself, always wanting to help others. She left a sweet impression in so many people’s hearts. She is at peace now and with our Heavenly Father. She is no longer suffering. My soul rejoices because she’s with our Lord, but my flesh mourns because I will miss her. I’m thankful for the privilege of having a friend like Maureen in my life. She lives forever in my heart. I will see her again in Heaven. My prayers and love to her family and friends.
