Murphy, Michael J., 71, of Bullocks Point Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on March 12, 2024 at home surrounded by his loving family after a 10 month battle with glioblastoma. He was the beloved husband of Linda M. (Gouveia) Murphy.

Born in Providence, RI, a son of the late John P. and Dolores (Duprey) Murphy, he lived in Riverside for 47 years.

Mr. Murphy worked at the Oldcastle Company for 25 years before retiring in 2018.

Michael coached youth boys and girls in Riverside Little League and St. Brendan CYO basketball.

Michael enjoyed fishing, sports, and vacationing in Maine. His biggest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife of 47 years, he was the devoted father of Sean Murphy (Michelle), Ryan Murphy (Shannon), and Kayla Barao (Travis); beloved grandfather of Colby, Tatum, Mason and Owen Murphy and Emily, James and Gabriella Barao. He also leaves behind two sisters, Kathleen Gauvin, Maureen Murphy; four brothers, Gregory Murphy, Robert Murphy, John Murphy and Joseph Murphy and several nieces, nephews and extended family. He was the brother of the late Eileen Caramiciu.

His Funeral will be held on Tuesday March 19, 2024 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

  1. Greg, Bobby, & family, sorry for losing your big brother. i remember Mike being the catalyst to get all the Murphys running at Hendricken, including through the corn fields at Morris Farms. Peace.
