MacDonald, Mildred, V., ‘Mimi,’ 88, of Somerset Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on Saturday December 18, 2010 at the Philip Hulitar Inpatient Center, Providence. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald J. MacDonald Sr. and former wife of the late Joseph L. Duarte Jr.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Hugh and Margaret (McVeigh) McConaghy, she was a lifelong resident of Riverside.

Mrs. MacDonald was a clerk in the classified-advertising department at the Providence Journal Co. for 19 years before retiring in 1984. ‘Mrs. Mac’ was a secretary and seamstress for the Jo-Ann’s Dance Studio, Riverside for many years.

Mildred was an avid seamstress, ballroom dancer and enjoyed swimming at the YMCA. Her quick wit and dry sense of humor made ‘Mille’ the life of the party.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt appreciation to all the staff at the Capital Ridge Assisted Living, Providence.

She is survived by her devoted daughter; Jo-Ann Donnelly of Riverside, two brothers; Leo McConaghy of Providence and Hugh McConaghy of Riverside, two sisters; Eileen Finella of Barrington and Rita O’Reilly of East Greenwich, a step-son; Donald MacDonald Jr. of Attleboro, MA, two step-daughters; Dr. Deborah J. MacDonald of Arcadia, CA and Cheryl A. Fitton of North Port, FL, twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was step-mother of the late Lorna J. McCarthy and sister of the late Nora Scott, Margaret Tucker, Theresa Woodcock, Catherine and Robert McConaghy.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday December 22, 2010 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
