Cardin, Paul Joseph, Jr., age 90, of Rosedale Avenue in Barrington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.He was the devoted husband and lifelong partner to Claire F. (Walsh) Cardin. They celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on June 1, 2011.He was the loving father to Paula E. Adams of Warwick, Patricia J. Greenan of Windham, Maine, William P. Cardin of Warwick, Maryann Rainey of Smithfield, Paul J. Cardin III of Swansea, MA, Robert J. Cardin of Cranston, and C. Sean Cardin of Barrington. Paul had twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Born in Pawtucket, Paul was the son of the late Paul J. and Margaret (McHugh) Cardin. He was the brother of J. Raymond Cardin of Youngsville, NC and the late Marion Gorse. He graduated from St. Raphael’s Academy, received his undergraduate degree from the University of Rhode Island and a masters of social work from the University of Connecticut. He retired as Director of Residential Care from Bradley Home in East Providence in 1986 after 39 years of service. Paul was a veteran of WWII serving as a fighter pilot instructor in the Army Air Corp. He enjoyed sailing in his younger years and became an avid golfer after his retirement. However, his greatest love was for his family.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday April 11, 2012 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 11 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
