VanCouyghem, Pedro, J., Jr., 92, of Promenade Street, died unexpectedly on August 20, 2010. He was the husband of the late Lillian N. (Cardente) VanCouyghem.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Pedro J. and Ismere P. (Sevrette) VanCouyghem, he lived in Barrington for 60 years.

Mr. VanCouyghem was a lace weaver at the former RI Lace Works and Seekonk Lace Co. for 50 years before retiring in 1984.

Pedro was a communicant of St. Luke Church. A sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing football, hockey and spending time on Narragansett Bay. An animal lover, he was a kind man with a wonderful sense of humor.

He is survived by two daughters; Lillian R. Elliott of Warren and Sharon M. Bettencourt of Riverside and a granddaughter; Joanna M. Elliott of Warren. He was the brother of the late August C. VanCouyghen.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday August 25, 2010 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:15 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 9:30 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday 4-8 pm.
