Drury, Raymond, L., ‘Sean’, 76, of Village Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on May 14, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Speitel) Drury.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Leo R. and Catherine (Ward) Drury, he lived in Riverside for 11 years.

Mr. Drury was a graduate of Classical High School, Catholic University, where he received a Classic Language degree, Middlebury College, VT, where he received a Master’s degree in Italian, Providence College, where he received a Master’s degree in Religious Studies and was a recipient of a certificate of Jewish Studies from the Temple Beth El, Providence.

Raymond was a classics teacher at the Marianapolis Preparatory School, CT for 3 years, LaSalle Academy for 5 years, Mt. Hope High School for 24 years and Bay View Academy for 14 years before retiring in 2007. He also was an Adjunct Professor at Providence College for 20 years.

Brother Sean was a former Christian Brother. He also was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. He was a member of the National Education Association and the Rhode Island Foreign Language Association. He enjoyed academic languages and running.

Besides his wife of 46 years, he is survived by a daughter, Beth Anne Tanous and her husband Thomas of Barrington; three grandchildren, Samuel Drury Tanous, Gabriel Thomas Tanous and Lucas Sean Tanous; a brother, Leo R. Drury of Providence; a sister, Arleen C. Dmytryshyn of Cranston and a dear cousin, Corrine Bindon of Baltimore, MD. He was the grandfather of the late Connor ‘Patch’ Tanous.

His funeral will be held on Monday May 18, 2015 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary Church, 538 Broadway, Providence at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
