Burns, Richard J., Jr., 74, of Sherbrooke Road, died peacefully on June 14, 2017. He was the beloved husband of Barbara J. (Nelson) Burns.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Richard J. Burns Sr. and Dorothea (Newman) Burns, he lived in Barrington for 45 years.

Mr. Burns was a meter clerk for National Grid for 35 years before retiring in 2004.

Richard was a communicant of St. Luke Church. He was a member of the Riverside American Legion Post #10. He was a former Barrington Little League softball coach, Barrington Pop Warner Football coach and was a St. Luke CYO Basketball coach.

Mr. Burns was a United States Army Veteran serving during Vietnam.

Besides his wife of 49 years, he is survived by a daughter, Kendra Convery and her husband Robert of Pleasanton, CA and a grandson, Sam Convery of Pleasanton, CA. He was the brother of the late Deborah Vanotti.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday June 20, 2017 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
