Chester, Richard, W., 93, of Oak Crest Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on February 9, 2016. He was the husband of the late Ruth A. (Hickey) Chester.

Born in Cranston, a son of the late James S. and Beatrice G. (Woodman) Chester, he lived in Riverside for 66 years.

Mr. Chester was a tool maker for the former Rau Fastener Co. for 22 years before retiring in 1984.

Richard holds national weight lighting records and was an avid bowler and gardener.

Mr. Chester was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Battle of the Bulge during World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, Diane Maciel and her husband Richard of Warwick; a son, Richard W. Chester Jr. and his wife Diana of Warwick; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Robert and Everett Chester.

A committal service will be held on Saturday February 20, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery Chapel, Wampanoag Trail, Riverside. Burial with Military Honors will follow. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.
