Snow, Robert, J., 89, of Allerton Avenue, died peacefully on October 27, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Edna M. (Coogan) Snow.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Aborn and Mary (Burns) Snow, he lived in East Providence for 51 years.

Mr. Snow was an assistant foreman in the pressroom at the Providence Journal for 33 years before retiring in 1977. He also was a foreman in the pressroom at the Pawtucket Times Newspaper for 10 years before retiring in 1987. He was the owner-operator of the R.J. Snow Reality Co., Pawtucket.

Robert was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church. He was a life member of the Veteran’s of Foreign War.

Mr. Snow was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II where he was a recipient of the World War II Victory Medal, American Arena Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Arena Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He also served in the Korean War where he was assigned to the Seabees Division.

Robert enjoyed helping his late wife Edna in her political endeavors, working on his properties, riding motorcycles and spending time with his family.

He is survived by a daughter; Cynthia Butler and her husband Mark of Barrington, a son; Thomas C. Snow and his wife Sherry of Barrington and a sister; Mary Plant of Cumberland. He will be sadly missed by his three grandsons; Thomas C. Snow Jr. and his wife Erica, Christopher P. Snow and Matthew R. Butler. He was the brother of the late Francis Snow.

His funeral will be held on Monday October 31, 2011 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martha’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence at 10 am. Graveside burial with Military Honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
