Tierney, Robert, J., 87, of Bullocks Point Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully at home on April 26, 2015 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia (Dalgliesh) Tierney.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Robert and Lillian (Breen) Tierney-Savard, he lived in Riverside for 64 years.

Mr. Tierney was a maintenance mechanic for the former Rumford Chemicals, presently Essex Chemicals, for over 30 years before retiring in 1975.

Robert was a communicant of St. Brendan Church and was a member of the Teamsters Local #251. He enjoyed fishing, boating and was a man of many talents.

Besides his wife of 61 years, he is survived by a son, Robert J. Tierney Jr. of Rehoboth, MA; two grandchildren; many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews in Texas. He was the brother of the late Anna Harkey.

His funeral service will be private. A private burial will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Robert’s memory to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904 would be deeply appreciated.
