Balkcom, Robert W., 78, of Carousel Drive, Riverside, died unexpectedly on February 1, 2024 at Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in East Providence, a son of the late Albert and Mary (Wheelock) Balkcom, he lived in Riverside for many years.

Mr. Balkcom was a graduate of the East Providence High School Class of 1968.

Robert was a truck driver for the former HH Watson Co. and the National Office Supply Company. He also was a sports enthusiast.

Mr. Balkcom was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam Era.

He is survived by several loving cousins.

His Funeral Service and Burial will be held in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI., on a date and time to be announced.

  1. I remember catching for Bob in baseball from Little League through HS. He was a great competitor and outstanding pitcher with a mean fastball. I remember one time he got hit in the nose with a baseball and was badly bloodied and broken but Bob was stoic and more concerned about making the tag at home plate. A real stand up guy and competitor

  3. “What About Bob” was what I affectionately called him. I enjoyed visiting with him at his home and our conversations. He was funny. He will greatly be missed.
