Camara, Roger J., 90, of Wallis Avenue, Barrington, died peacefully on January 27, 2023 at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence. He was the husband of the late Mary (Palumbo) Camara.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Peter and Antoinette (Bilodeau) Camara, he lived in Barrington for 60 years.

Mr. Camara was the Owner-Operator of the former Camara’s Radiator & Glass Company, Warren for 30 years before retiring in 1995.

Roger was a baseball card and sports memorabilia collector. He was a former Barrington Little League coach and was inducted into the Warren Sports Hall of Fame.

Mr. Camara was a United States Army National Guard Veteran.

He is survived by his four children, Michael Camara of Warwick, Kenneth Camara of Smithfield, Cathy Camara of Barrington and Maryann Jobin of Barrington; two sisters, Edith Cabral of Fall River, MA and Nancy Kanwischer of Mesquite, NV; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

His funeral will be held on Friday February 3, 2023 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke’s Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 10 a.m. A private burial will follow in Saint Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Greenlawn Avenue, Warren.

Calling hours are Thursday from 3-7 p.m. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Roger’s memory to St. Philip Church, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI, 02828 would be deeply appreciated.

  1. I remember Roger from Little League days in the early 1970’s. Such a kind, good hearted man who always offered words of encouragement. My condolences Mike to you and your family

  2. Myself, my husband and son loved getting to know Roger when he would come into Major League Memories, our card shop. His passion and knowledge for card collecting was astounding! He was a wonderful man, may he rest in peace. Cathy, Ron and Danny LaSalle

  12. It was a pleasure knowing your father. We will always remember that friendly and happy man from Barrington who visited our St. Philip Church. We looked forward to seeing and talking with him before and after Mass. The good Lord blessed the Camara family by letting your father/grandfather live and be a part of your life for 90 years.
