Roy Jack Silva “Happy”

Date of Passing:
Roy Jack Silva (“Happy”)
September 29, 1941 – July 28, 2025
Roy Jack Silva, affectionately known as “Happy,” passed away peacefully at the HopeHealth Hospice Center on July 28, 2025, at the age of 83.
Born and raised in East Providence, Roy was a lifelong resident and the son of the late Jesse and Anna (Ciccio) Silva. He was one of 17 children, with 12 sisters and 4 brothers. He was a devoted husband to Dolores (Lagarto) Silva for 65 years and proud father to three daughters: Cheryl (Silva) Rosenholm, Wendy Silva and Cindy (Silva) Danielson. He had two sons-in-law: Cheryl’s late husband, Douglas Rosenholm – who playfully called him “Roy G. Biv” – and Cindy’s husband, Carl Danielson. A beloved grandfather to Taylor Rosenholm and Morgan Silvia, he was their steady rock and source of wisdom.
A skilled welder with golden hands, Roy could fix, build, or improve just about anything. After retiring as a foreman from Technifab in 1985, he never lost his knack for turning scraps into treasures or his pride in a job well done. He proudly fabricated the diamond sculpture that can be seen from Route 95 North at National Gold and Diamond.
In retirement, Roy embraced the simple joys: the tug of a fish on his line, the satisfaction of homegrown tomatoes, and the daily visits from birds in his yard. His travels across America filled his home with meaningful collections – toy cars that captured his adventures and vintage records that sparked stories. He treasured every card from his family, each one carefully preserved.
Those who knew Roy will remember his grounded presence, his special brand of humor, and
the way his “Royisms” (“whichamacallit,” “a couple three”) became family shorthand. His blunt
but loving advice always seemed to come at just the right moment.
But above all, they’ll remember how he loved – deeply and quietly, in the way he showed up. Whether fixing a broken doorknob, sharing a meal, or simply sitting together outside, you always knew where you stood with him.
His Funeral Service will be private, in keeping with Roy’s wishes.

The news of Uncle Roy’s passing leaves me with many thoughts. My time spent in his presence may have been somewhat limited, but the occasions together from a young boy to my adult life were solid and meaningful for me. I always felt I was with family with him. He always left me with a feeling of positivity and acceptance. Those were simply but important gifts he gave just by being who he was. That will continue to live on with me. Love to Aunt Delores and family.
