Burley, Russell J., 62, died peacefully on August 16, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Rutkowski) Burley.

Born in Albany, NY, a son of Florann (Conklin) Burley of Plattsburg, NY and the late Russell J. Burley, he lived in Barrington for 37 years.

Mr. Burley was an Emergency Medical Technician and an aircraft maintenance mechanic.

Russell was a United States Army Veteran helicopter crew chief in the 1st Aviation Company in Fort Riley, Kansas and enjoyed fishing.

Besides his wife of 41 years, he is survived by a daughter, Eileen Beard of Leonardtown, MD; a sister, Linda Layo of Plattsburgh, NY and a brother, Daniel Burley of Charleston, SC.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday September 29, 2018 in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington at 9:30 a.m. Burial will be private.

Flowers are respectfully omitted. Donations can be made in honor of Russell Burley to Rhode Island Hospital TAVR Program, The Rhode Island Hospital Foundation, 139 Point Street, Providence, RI, 02903 would be deeply appreciated.

  1. Sorry to hear about Russ. I was Mary and his friend at Fort Riley. 1st of the 7th field artillery unit. I was also best man for Russ and Mary.

    Sorry to hear about Russ. Way too young. I still tell stories of our adventures together. We had a lot of good times. He will be missed.

  5. Deepest condolences on Rusty’s passing…he was always so kind to me and I have fond memories of our time together as teenagers listening to Led Zeppelin..I can still hear his voice and his laughter!!!
    life goes by way too fast and the time we did spend together was awesome!!!

  6. I send this note with a heavy heart as the oldest cousin of this large great family I will miss talking to Rusty he had such a good life. I wish I had seen him more often as it was at my fathers funeral in Nov 1998 and he made such an effort to come down here to Virginia I will never forget that. Will miss you my dear cousin love Peggy Burley

    I am so sorry for your loss. I heard you pray for Russell at the monastery two weeks ago, I went to Maine on vacation, and when I came back they prayed for the repose of Russell’s soul last Sunday at St. Luke’s. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
