Murphy, Ruth Elizabeth, (Harrison), 92, died on May 3, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Manor, Bristol, RI, where she had lived for the past year. She was born on July 15, 1921, in Fall River, Massachusetts, to Henry A. Harrison and Julia (Leary) Harrison. She was the youngest of five and lived on Rathgar Street in Fall River, with her family, until her marriage to Eugene F. Murphy on September 27, 1947, at Holy Name Church on Highland Avenue, in Fall River. She is predeceased by her parents, sisters Dorothy H. Phillips and Elizabeth H. McGuigan Gray, brothers, R. Robert Harrison and Henry Harrison as well as her husband of 52 years, Eugene F. Murphy. She is survived by her daughter, Sheila H. (Murphy) Cerjanec and her husband Nicholas Cerjanec of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; a granddaughter, Julia H. Haas and her fianc Adam Lansing of Niantic, CT, numerous nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She also leaves close friends, Prudy and Mars Bishop of Barrington. She was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School in Fall River and attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She worked briefly as a secretary for a family friend and worked for the Rationing Board during the war years.

She was a resident of Barrington, Rhode Island, since 1951 and a member of St. Luke Parish in Barrington where she was an active participant in many parish activities over the years.

A vibrant and social person, Ruth will be remembered for her loving and giving personality, her beautiful smile and joyous laugh.

Burial will be private at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Arrangements are by the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, Riverside, RI. Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Association, Rhode Island Chapter, (alz.org) or St. Elizabeth Manor, 1 Dawn Hill Road, Bristol, RI.
