Ray, Shirley, C., 84, of Beach Point Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on November 27, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late James T. Ray.

Born in East Providence, a daughter of the late Charles Francis Brown Sr. and Vivian (Boudreau) Brown, she was a lifelong resident of Riverside.

Mrs. Ray graduated early from East Providence Senior High School and went on to attend the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence.

Shirley was an avid sewer and enjoyed painting local lighthouse’s and nautical scenes both with pen and ink and palette knives. She raised German Shepard dogs and entered them in dog shows for confirmation and obedience. She enjoyed spending time with her loving family.

She is survived by two daughters; Cynthia J. Ray of Riverside and Carolyn J. Deshong of Riverside, two brothers; Rodney E. Brown of Barrington and Charles F. Brown Jr. of Barrington, a sister; Patricia E. Poissant of Riverside, three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Thursday December 5 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7 pm. Calling hours are Thursday 5-7 pm.
