Cioe, Sorzio, F., ‘Sam’, 85, of Whipple Avenue, died peacefully on Saturday August 27, 2011 at the Rhode Island Veteran’s Home, Bristol. He was the husband of the late Adeline (Rebello) Cioe.

Born in Barrington, a son of the late Rocco and Maria (Starnino) Cioe, he was a lifelong resident of Barrington.

Mr. Cioe was a foreman at Zart’s Jewlery Co. for 45 years before retiring in 1995.

Sorzio was past President of the Barrington Democratic Club for 12 years. He was a life member of the Barrington American Legion Post #8, The Last Man’s Club of Barrington and the Italian Club of Warren. He enjoyed gardening, bartending and playing cards.

Mr. Cioe was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II.

He is survived by three daughters; Kathleen A. Cookson, Diane E. Duane and her husband Michael and Sandra M. Ganley and a son; Robert Cioe and his wife Tammy, all of Barrington, three sisters; Mary DeAngelis of Barrington, Elizabeth Chipanelli of VT and Anna Flanagan of Vancouver, WA, five grandchildren; James Cookson and his wife Ana, Scott Ganley and his wife McCalyn, Kevin Ganley, Michaela Gillett and her husband Jesse and Justine Cioe and six great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Barbara Jiacovelli, Carmella Cote, Anthony, Joseph, John, Peter, Albert and Louis Cioe.

His funeral will be held on Friday September 2, 2011 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angel Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington. Calling hours are Thursday 4-8 pm.
