Stanley A. Fafara

Date of Passing:

June 7, 2025

Stanley A. Fafara, 70, of Highview Avenue, Warren died peacefully on June 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Marianne Frederick, they were together for 41 years.

Born in Providence, raised in Warren and Barrington, he was the only child of Stanley A. and Rose (Carlone) Fafara.

Stanley was a devoted parishioner of Holy Angels Church for his entire life.

A graduate of Barrington High School where he played football, baseball and ran track. Stanley also attended Dean Junior College and the University of South Florida.

Returning to RI, he began his career with the Department of Corrections for the State of RI. He retired in 2003. During this time, he purchased Jack’s Bar on Water Street in Warren in 1990 and became the “CEO” for the next 35 years. This is where he enjoyed spending time with his many friends and made new ones daily. He had a welcoming, laid-back demeanor to which people were naturally drawn.

One of the first things he did as CEO was put together an annual golf tournament to benefit the children of the Jimmy Fund and Dana Farber Cancer Institute, raising thousands of dollars over the last 34 years. We will continue that tradition for him.

Stanley loved sports, whether it was playing flag football in his younger years or softball for many years with a number of teams. As he grew older, he picked up golf and enjoyed watching sports and following his favorite teams, the NY Jets, Boston Red Sox, NE Patriots, and Atlanta Braves. One of his other favorite teams was the Jack’s Bar/Market St Pub Women’s Softball Team. His attempt at coaching them didn’t quite work out, though, and he was fired half-way through the season … but he loved them anyway.

Stanley was also a member of the West Barrington Men’s Club where he participated in the Monday Night Golf League for many years.

Stanley loved to travel. Most recently to San Diego to watch the Red Sox play the Padres and was always up for a quick road trip to Atlantic City.

Stanley also enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and driving his 1968 Ford Mustang convertible that was lovingly restored for him in 2009 by amazing friends while he was recovering from a stem cell transplant at Dana Farber which remained in remission for the next 15 years.

We would like to thank the amazing people at Crestwood Nursing and Rehabilitation in Warren for taking such great care of Stanley. They were absolutely the best!

Stanley will be missed by so many. Besides his wife, he leaves a sister-in-law, Joan Frederick, his beloved niece, Sydney Frederick, both of Barrington, and his Godson David Acciardo. He leaves many beloved cousins along with the many, many friends he considered family, especially Chet and Patty Charette. At home, his pals Buddy, Otto, Maxine, and Mutt will miss him very much.

Stanley’s funeral will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI, at 8:30 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Forest Chapel Cemetery on Nayatt Road.

Calling hours are Wednesday, June 11, 2025, from 4-8 p.m.

In leu of flowers, donations in Stanley’s name can be made to The Jimmy Fund, PO Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.

  3. I only knew Stan during our high school years. His exploits on the football field on Saturday’s were what I remember most about him. Though we were both student athletes, our sports were as different as night and day, I was a swimmer. Our occasional meeting in school or at school related activities was how I learned about his quiet and gentle demeanor. We last met and spent more time talking than I ever remember us chatting at our Class of 1973 50th Reunion in 2023 at the Bristol Yacht Club. I was struck to see his obituary yesterday strictly by chance and felt moved to lose a friend and yet another classmate.

  14. Stanley ” the Flash ” was one of the nicest people one could meet. He had the spirit to bring you into his love of life. He was two years ahead of me but we became close friends through football. He was a good athlete but possessed amazing speed. My best memory was beating Woonsocket High on their dirt and rock field. Due to injuries I was forced to play on the offensive line at 160 pounds against the giants on defensive line of Woonsocket. Stanley told me to just attack their ankles. It worked; I survived and we won the game which was their only loss as they rolled to a State Championship. My life long love for Stanley began that day. Rest in peace Brother!
