Stephen P. Panichas
Date of Passing:
Stephen P. Panichas, 75, of Barrington, Rhode Island, passed away on April, 2, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Marion Panichas, with whom he shared more than 50 years of marriage.
Born on September 9, 1950, in Pawtucket, Stephen was the son of the late Florence and Plato Panichas. He grew up in Pawtucket before settling in Barrington, where he and Marion built their life together.
Stephen worked as an insurance underwriter for nearly 40 years, earning the respect of colleagues for his warmth and humanity. A stellar baseball player in his own right, he later found even greater joy coaching his children, sharing his love of the game with the next generation.
Those who knew Stephen knew a man of sharp wit, deep authenticity, and an endlessly kind heart. He was compassionate and caring in everything he did — the kind of man everyone was proud to call a friend, a father, an uncle, and a Papou. His warmth filled every room he entered, and his love left a mark on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Stephen is survived by his devoted wife, Marion Panichas; his children, Jessica Rawnsley and Matthew Panichas; his daughter-in-law, Josephine Panichas; his son-in-law, Brian Rawnsley; his brother, George Panichas; and his three grandchildren, Aiden, Mila, and Madeleine, who were the great joy of his life.
A truly lovely person, gone too soon.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday April 11, 2026 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside from 12 noon to 2 p.m.
