Byrnes, Thomas, H., 89, of Palmer Avenue, Riverside, died peacefully on October 18, 2010. He was the husband of the late Mary H. (Hoey) Byrnes. They were married for 58 years.

Born in East Greenwich, a son of the late James P. and Katherine R. (Glennon) Byrnes, he lived in Riverside for 56 years and wintered in Port Charlotte, FL for 24 years.

Mr. Byrnes was a Vice President in the leasing division of the former Fleet Financial Corp. for 25 years before retiring in 1986. He previously was a credit manager for various Sears stores for 10 years.

Thomas was a graduate of LaSalle Academy Class of 1939 and Bryant College Class of 1949. He was a past Grand Knight of the Riverside Bishop Hickey Council Knights of Columbus and a member of the Port Charlotte Lodge of Elks for 20 years.

He is survived by a son; James T. Byrnes and his wife Tracey of Peacedale, two daughters; Marianne Martin and her husband Ken of Punta Gorda, FL and Carolyn M. Tongyai and her husband Jonathan of Saibel, FL, a sister; Kathleen R. Byrnes of Kingston and five grandchildren.

His funeral will be held on Saturday October 23, 2010 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 9 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday 4-7 pm.
