Violet M. Higgins

Higgins, Violet M. (Longo), 90, formerly of Josal Drive, Barrington and recently Atria Bay Spring Village, Bay Spring Avenue, died peacefully on May 24, 2022 at Miriam Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen W. Higgins Jr.

Born in Barrington, a daughter of the late Donato and Anna (Montecalvo) Longo, she was a life-long resident of Barrington.

Mrs. Higgins was a food distributor for the Barrington School Department School Lunch Program for 24 years before retiring in 1993.

Violet was a communicant of Holy Angels Church. She enjoyed playing poker, bowling, golfing and her time at the casino. She was a member of the Montaup Country Club.

She is survived by three sons, Stephen J. Higgins and his wife Mary Ann (Codega) of Warren, Kevin M. Higgins and his wife Mary Jane (Colasanti) of Swansea, and Michael J. Higgins and his wife Anne Marie (Simoes) of Bristol; seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a brother, Anthony Longo of Narragansett. She was the sister of the late Carlo Longo and Nicholas Longo.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday May 27, 2022 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday morning from 8:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

I am sending my sympathy to all Violet family…She was a beautiful women…The girls use to play cards every week at Lucille StAngelo home where I was a care giver to Lu…so sad they both pass on same month….MAY she RIP…..She maybe gone but never forgotten..I ❤️ her….I was going to meet the girls for coffee one day an I was looking forward to seeing Violet….Very pretty an sweet lady….
