Sittinger, Virginia, F., (Gray), ‘Ginny,’ 75, of Anson Drive, Riverside, died peacefully on May 18, 2010 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in East Providence and raised in Rehoboth, MA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Beatrice (Harrington) Gray and lived in Riverside for 50 years.

Mrs. Sittinger was a secretary for the East Providence School Department for 25 years before retiring in 1998. She previously worked for Federal Products in Providence.

Ginny was a communicant and member of the Forever Young Club of St. Brendan Church. She was a member of the East Providence Senior Center and a participant in the Senior Project.

A sports enthusiast, Ginny developed a love for sports early in her life when she played softball for the Rehoboth Milk Maids and the Rehoboth Blue Jays. She was a devoted Boston Red Sox and New England Patriot fan and was formerly a member of the Warwick Civil Air Patrol.

Mrs. Sittinger was a volunteer for Congressmen Patrick J. Kennedy’s re-election campaigns where she was featured in the campaign television commercials.

She is survived by a daughter; Karen L. Sittinger of Riverside, a son; Kevin L. Sittinger of Lincoln, two brothers; Donald Gray of Narragansett and Richard Gray of South Yarmouth, MA, four granddaughters; Courtney Hunt, Caitlin, Jennie and Kristy Sittinger, all of Riverside and a great grandson; Brennan Hunt of Riverside. She was the sister of the late Barbara Hessels, Thomas and Robert Gray.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday May 22, 2010 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, East Providence.
